Meet Jody

Jody is a dedicated public servant, successful entrepreneur and committed community leader with deep ties to Sandy Springs. She was elected to the Sandy Springs City Council in 2017 and has worked tirelessly since then to represent the community's civic and economic interests. She is a principled leader with a long record of personal and professional achievements, and she is never afraid to roll up her sleeves, get into the details and find solutions.

Jody's Vision

Having listened to so many of our neighbors, I have a very clear vision of Sandy Spring’s future and what we need to do as city leaders to fully realize all of the opportunities that Sandy Springs has. Working together, we can keep our city moving forward.

My vision for the city is based on well-funded and stable economic development, rich and varied housing choices, abundant sports, recreation and green space, and top-quality public education. These elements all work together to create strong, vibrant, resilient communities, like the one we all want.

We can bring more life and more energy to every corner of Sandy Springs, but we must get these fundamentals right to keep Sandy Springs a desirable city to live for singles, seniors, and families for generations to come.

Jody's Priorities

Keep Sandy Springs Competitive

Where do you shop? Where do you go for date night? Where do your kids go to school? Did any of your answers include cities other than Sandy Springs? If so, you’re not alone. Sandy Springs is a Georgia gem – there’s good reason we moved here and chose to stay here! But we need to grow in smart ways that enhance our quality of life and protect the unique qualities of our town to keep us competitive.

Renew & Reimagine Housing Opportunities

No matter your income level, you should be able to live in safe, clean housing but we are failing our citizens by proposing band-aid solutions. If we reimagine these aging apartment complexes, like the Reserve at Ridgewood which sits on over 24 acres of land and is plagued with safety concerns, we can unlock opportunities for redevelopment. We must create rich, diverse housing stock to make Sandy Springs accessible for seniors, singles, and families.

Protect Our Parks and Recreation

Our greenspace, nature preserves, and outdoor recreation set Sandy Springs apart. Yet there is so much more we can do! We can create better connectivity for existing and new trail systems. We can ensure our existing facilities are state-of-the art, creating a desirable option for active people of all ages. The little decisions we make as a City about our built environment make a big impact now and for future generations of residents.

Prioritize Public Safety

We are fortunate to have an exceptional police force. We need to continue to fully fund the Sandy Springs Police Department and ensure our officers have the resources and training they need to succeed. The new Fire Station No. 5 is a great example of how we can put our residents first by investing in state-of-the-art public safety infrastructure. With the investments made, residents will see lower response times and our firefighters have the advanced tools they need to do their jobs well and safely.

Invest in Quality Education

For more than a decade, I have poured my time and passion into improving our community schools. The quality of our schools and the education they provide is closely linked to the work we do as a Council. Strong schools create strong economies, and strong schools are only possible if families want to locate to our community. The policies we advance to keep our economy competitive, develop attainable, quality housing, and improve the livability of our city all contribute to healthy schools in our community.
