Meet Jody
I grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, where I learned the value of hard work at a young age — driving a school bus at 16 and working in local shops to help support my family.
I moved to Sandy Springs in my 20s and raised my twins, Carly and Jay, here. Today, my husband Ken and I proudly call this community home. We live in Mt. Vernon Woods with our two dogs.
Sports and fitness have always been part of my life. I’ve run 27 marathons, including Boston twice, and I’m still out on early morning runs in Sandy Springs.
My professional career began in finance and later grew into real estate investment. I own and manage a successful rental property business, from which many tenants have rented for over a decade. I believe in fair rents, safe homes, and stable neighborhoods.
As a mom, a business owner, and your City Councilwoman for the past eight years, I’ve built a record of results — from leading the effort to secure a new North Springs High School, to expanding recreation opportunities, to pushing for smart redevelopment that will strengthen our schools and neighborhoods.
I’m running for mayor because Sandy Springs is at a crossroads. We deserve leadership that delivers results, not excuses.
Jody's Vision
Sandy Springs has the people, the resources, and the energy to be a truly great city. But for too long, we’ve heard excuses instead of seeing results. Promises of a vibrant downtown, real North End redevelopment, and stronger schools have been made — and left unfinished.
My vision is a city where families can buy homes and put down roots, where seniors have options to stay in the community they love, where schools are strong and neighborhoods are safe. A city with a thriving downtown, modern amenities, and smart investments that residents can actually see and enjoy.
I believe in bold leadership, practical solutions, and results — not excuses.

“This is not just another election, it’s a turning point. We cannot settle for Rusty Paul’s status quo any longer. I’m running for mayor to replace excuses with results, and to build the vibrant, thriving Sandy Springs our families deserve.”

Jody's Priorities
Leadership that Gets Things Done
For eight years on City Council, I’ve seen the same small circle of people rotate through our city committees and boards, often without the expertise those roles require. Meanwhile, Rusty Paul has worn multiple hats, serving as board chair of the Police Foundation, Visit Sandy Springs, the Sandy Springs Foundation, and others.
As mayor, I will make that change. I’ll open the door for more residents to serve on committees and boards, bringing in new voices and proven experience. One of my greatest strengths is surrounding myself with people who know how to get things done. I will recruit individuals with the right skills for each board or project and give them the tools and confidence to succeed.
I will wear one hat — the proud mayor of Sandy Springs — and I’ll build a leadership team that reflects the
talent, commitment, and excellence of our community.
Renew & Reimagine Housing Opportunities
Sandy Springs already has more apartments than Roswell, Alpharetta, and Johns Creek combined — many of which are aging and neglected.
Nearly 70% were built before 1990, sprawling across hundreds of acres.
My vision is to redevelop outdated complexes into vibrant neighborhoods, creating more opportunities for homeownership — including townhomes, condos, cottage courts, and modern senior housing.
Hold absentee landlords accountable through stronger code enforcement to ensure safe and livable housing for renters.
Collaborate with businesses and developers who want to invest wisely, creating balanced and attractive communities that enhance the entire city.
Finish the Downtown We Were Promised
For more than a decade, Sandy Springs has waited for a completed downtown.
Millions have been poured into road projects and traffic circles, while downtown remains unfinished and the North End remains stagnant.
I will deliver City Springs Phase 2, featuring restaurants, retail, green spaces, and gathering places that bring life back to our city center.
My focus is on
smart investments that matter to residents, not wasteful spending.
Invest in Quality Education
Jody knows that strong schools are the foundation of a strong community. She led the nine-year effort to secure a brand-new building for North Springs High School, the single largest investment in Sandy Springs since the construction of City Hall in 2017. She got it done when others said it couldn’t be done.
Now, she’s committed to what’s next: lights for Mt. Vernon and Holy Innocents’, continued support for all of our Sandy Springs schools, and above all, pursuing a dedicated Sandy Springs school network. Smaller, locally governed districts deliver better results, and our children deserve nothing less.
And this isn’t just about families with kids in school. Great schools protect property values, attract new families and businesses, and make every neighborhood stronger. While Spalding Drive Elementary closed on Rusty Paul’s watch, Jody will work tirelessly to build a school system that secures Sandy Springs’ future.
When it comes to our children and our schools, Jody delivers.
